Energizing or sleepy?

Mostly calming, after a lift. Leafly places Wedding Cake on the calming side of its scale and AllBud lists sleepy among its effects, but Weedmaps, SeedFinder and Leafly’s own 2019 write-up describe a head high or cerebral lift before the heavier relaxation; that writer called it “not necessarily sleepy, but definitely heavy-eyed”.1,2,3,4,5 Two of its children lean further toward sleep: Leafly lists sleepy as the top effect of Ice Cream Cake and of Gelato Cake (see genetics).8,9

Why “aroused” shows up

Aroused comes second, after relaxed, among the top effects Leafly lists for Wedding Cake, and Leafly’s 2024 guide to the strain says its users have long credited it with relaxation, sedation and even sexual arousal.1,10 The same effect leads Leafly’s list for LA Kush Cake, one of its offspring.11 These are self-reports, not clinical findings.

Why two batches can feel different

Potency alone varies widely: one in ten lab-tested batches came in under 17.36% THC and one in ten above 28.19%.12 The name also covers more than one plant: Weedmaps says it spans the original cut, seed reproductions, backcrosses, autoflowers and unrelated breeder projects, some seed versions are bred from GSC and Cherry Pie, and Leafly notes that many phenotypes exist.2,4,7
