Do online THC listings overstate Wedding Cake?
Mostly, yes: for Wedding Cake, 4 of the 5 single-value THC listings we checked were above the lab median of 23.01%, across 7 outside entries.1
The ceiling was 27% from Barney’s Farm; only 16% of Wedding Cake tests were at or above that line, about 1 in 6.1,3 The floor was 19% from Royal Queen Seeds; 83% of tests were at or above that lower line, about 8 in 10.1,4
For ranges, the 23–25% bracket from Weedmaps held the most results, 21%; the 25–27% bracket from AllBud held the fewest, 16%.1,5,6
Those figures are references, not package-level proof; the batch certificate of analysis is the document to read for a specific jar.

What terpene usually leads Wedding Cake tests?
The usual leader in Wedding Cake terpene tests is β-caryophyllene: it ranked first in 65% of 1,388 profiles, while limonene led 23% and β-myrcene led 10%.1
Leafly calls caryophyllene dominant, and the lab count supports that claim because β-caryophyllene led 65% of Wedding Cake profiles.1,7
Most of the terpene evidence is from Nevada labs: they supplied 1,343 of 1,388 tests, so the percentages lean heavily toward that market's flower.1
| Terpene | Tests where it led | Share of tests |
|---|---|---|
| β-caryophyllene | 899 | 65% |
| Limonene | 323 | 23% |
| β-myrcene | 142 | 10% |

Which strain most resembles Wedding Cake in terpenes?
By this chemistry overlap, OG Kush is the closest terpene-profile match to Wedding Cake at 95%; next are Sherbet at 94% and Sour Diesel at 93%, while Durban Poison sits lowest in the 36-strain pool at 39%.1
For the math, median amounts for eight terpenes are recast as parts of each strain's combined eight-terpene amount, then the shared portion of a pair of mixes is added up; identical mixes score 100. A strain needed 30 or more tests reporting individual terpenes to join the pool.1
Among these matches, OG Kush, Sherbet and Sour Diesel all have β-caryophyllene leads; Durban Poison has a terpinolene lead.1 Lab-chemistry overlap is not a forecast of effects.
| Strain | Overlap | Lead terpene (by median) | Tests with terpenes |
|---|---|---|---|
| OG Kush | 95% | β-caryophyllene | 127 |
| Sherbet | 94% | β-caryophyllene | 193 |
| Sour Diesel | 93% | β-caryophyllene | 167 |
| Gushers | 93% | β-caryophyllene | 74 |
| Ice Cream Cake | 92% | β-caryophyllene | 753 |
| Durban Poison (least similar) | 39% | Terpinolene | 236 |

For spread, Wedding Cake's middle-half range is 5.47 points, from 20.25% to 25.72%; that places it 30th by narrowness within the 52-strain group meeting the 30-test floor, an average consistency result.1

Can Wedding Cake lab results differ a lot?
With batch composition varying by grower and state, for Wedding Cake, medians varied widely across the 27 labs with 20 or more tests, from 16.32% at Lab J (Maryland, 99 tests) to 28.28% at Lab D (Nevada, 232), a gap of 11.96 points.1
Even inside Michigan, lab medians did not converge: 11 qualifying labs covered 8.95 points, from 16.85% to 25.80%.1
Because labs see different growers' submissions, the gap alone does not prove that a lab reads high; it mixes grower source with testing site. We anonymize lab labels on this page: Lab A is the highest-volume lab, while the download uses the actual lab names.
| Lab | State | Tests | Median THC | Share at 20% or more |

| Lab A | Nevada | 554 | 22.32% | 80% |

Do terpene levels track THC in Wedding Cake?
Yes: in Wedding Cake, the higher-THC third carried more terpene weight among 1,608 tests with both measures; the top third began at 25.29% THC with a 2.15% total-terpene median, while the bottom third was 21.84% THC or lower with a 1.65% median, a difference of 0.50 points.1
The pattern repeated across every eligible state: 3 of 3 met the 30-pair screen and pointed upward, listed as Nevada up, Maryland up and California up.1 By total terpenes, we mean aroma-compound weight; this comparison is not an effects claim.
| Tests from | Tests | Lowest-THC third | Highest-THC third |
|---|---|---|---|
| All states | 1,608 | 1.65% | 2.15% |
| Nevada | 1,343 | 1.67% | 2.19% |
| Maryland | 220 | 1.54% | 2.25% |
| California | 36 | 1.82% | 2.18% |

Has Wedding Cake potency declined over time?
Yes overall: in eligible-year results, Wedding Cake went downward, with median THC at 23.02% in 2019 (115 tests) and 20.56% in 2024 (42), −2.46 points.1
Fixing the state to Nevada changes the read: 2020's median was 23.10%, and 2023's was 22.93%, a shift of −0.17 points that is flat by this method.1 That mismatch points to year-to-year changes in the state mix supplying the overall sample.
We omit any year that does not meet the 20-test minimum.1
| Year | Tests | Median THC |
|---|---|---|
| 2019 | 115 | 23.02% |
| 2020 | 494 | 22.39% |
| 2021 | 990 | 22.80% |

Do labs mostly test Wedding Cake flower?
Yes: exact-name Wedding Cake lab records were mostly flower, at 74% of 4,504 results (3,314); the rest was concentrates at 13%, shake and trim at 9.3%, plus pre-rolls at 3.0%.1 Only flower feeds this site's strain math.
Near-name records stayed out of the dataset: 898 results, equal to 17% of records containing Wedding Cake, were led by “Royal Wedding Cake” (281), “Wedding Cake X GPS” (125) and “Nana's Wedding Cake - NWC” (72).1 Extra wording, X-style crosses or CBD tags can point to another plant, so our name-matching rules exclude them.

What this data cannot tell you
- These tests are Wedding Cake flower samples from 8 states across 2018–2024; they cannot certify any one jar, which needs its own batch certificate of analysis.1
- The page measures chemistry only; personal response is outside what these data can answer.
