Growing
Growing Wedding Cake: flowering time, yield and breeder specs
Wedding Cake flowers in about 7–9 weeks according to Leafly and about 8–9 weeks indoors according to Weedmaps, and finishes outdoors between late September and October in the Northern Hemisphere. Expect dense, heavily frosted flowers; sources disagree on how hard it is to grow and on how much it stretches.1,2,3,4

What the plant is like
Expect dense, heavily frosted flowers. Leafly’s 2019 write-up describes thick, dense dark green buds with purple accents and orange hairs under a heavy coat of trichomes; Weedmaps describes dense, forest-green flowers with occasional purple undertones; AllBud describes frosty, pine-tree-shaped buds with dark green leaves and orange hairs.2,11,12
SeedFinder, summarizing home growers’ reports, describes a short, bushy plant with broad dark leaves and tight nodes that stays at moderate heights even outdoors and builds large buds along its main colas, sometimes with shades of purple.3
What to watch for
Height and difficulty are the disputed parts. SeedFinder and Weedmaps describe a short, bushy plant, while GrowDiaries’ breeder listing says the cut grows tall and doubles in size once flowered, and Prime Cuts Nursery expects 50–100% stretch in the first three weeks of bloom.2,3,4,5 Leafly rates it for intermediate and advanced growers, Weedmaps moderate, Prime Cuts intermediate, Zamnesia easy and ILGM beginner, a spread that partly reflects different plants sold under one name.1,2,5,9,10,13
The breeder has named one weakness himself: Seed Junky’s J Beezy told Leaf Magazines in 2026 that its newer Cake Straws fixed an issue with Wedding Cake’s pistils.14
Seeds and the law in the US
Under the amended federal definition of hemp, viable seeds from cannabis plants above 0.3% total THC, including THCA, are not hemp.15 Congress delayed that exclusion, with most of the new definition, from Nov 12 to Dec 11, 2026; only the exclusion of products with cannabinoids the plant cannot produce naturally starts on Nov 12.16 Home cultivation rules are set by each state. This site does not sell seeds.
